Blues Scales

This is something Jake also touched on during his class (see previous post) – the blues scale. I’ve often wondered what “different note” he throws into his solos. It turns out it’s a #4/b5 added into a minor pentatonic scale. I knew about the blues scale before, but his demos really gave me an idea how to apply it. Here is something that outlines the sound:

The hammered 2nd fret is the blue note. I made a tab of the scale in different keys:
