MISI Acoustic Trio Pickup: Consensus

It’s great. My ‘ukulele seems like a new instrument when I plug in. The sound is more full and presentable. With the old pickup I would still not be happy with the sound even when I could doctor it all up with preamps and EQ. Now I can just plug in and go.

Here is the old K&K Big Spot passive pickup straight into the computer’s line in:

To be fair, here is the same pickup ran through a Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum preamp:

Here is the new MISI Acoustic Trio straight in:

Not the perfect comparison since my playing style/ability and arrangement has changed, but it’s night and day enough to give you a good idea what each sounds like. You can hear a little bit of the pluck with the MISI and it sounds a bit “plugged in” for this clip, but as soon as you run it through an acoustic amp that all goes away.

Here it is in a video demo through my Roland AC-90 amp:

Great sound on the pickup and even better playing and song. Would you be able to post tabs or have a video lesson of the song you played from 1:05 to 2:13? Or can you give the name of the song? Thanks!

Man!, I gotta tell you that was bleeping amazing! I’ve just recently purchased a Ko’olau Tenor. Just learning myself, but I have been looking at pick ups. I really want to get another tenor set up with a “low g” as well, as I see the reason for the two. I hope that I will be able to play as well as you within the year. Well, at least a couple of good tunes.
