“One Day” by Matisyahu (Video Lesson)

matisyahuI’m always looking for songs to play and teach that are stupid simple, but still great pieces of music that work well on the ‘ukulele. They can be a challenge to locate and when you do finally find one it tends to get old because everyone plays it (I’m Yours). But I’ve got a new track that fits the “simple” criteria – One Day by Matisyahu. I first heard this song covered by Barry Flanagan from Hapa, but shortly after saw a beautiful video that featured the original. The gifts of kindness and true potential of people portrayed in that video stuck with me and just recently I finally took the time to get familiar with the words.

Here’s a lesson video I made geared toward the beginning ‘ukulele player, but the song would be a great addition to anybody’s performing or teaching repertoire.

Meet The Author:

Brad Bordessa

Brad plays 'ukulele on the Big Island of Hawai'i. He writes original music, performs, and hunts unicorns - all with only an 'ukulele.

Nice! I hadn’t heard the song before. The same chords and strum pattern can be used with the verses of Bob Marley’s “No Women No Cry”.
Your site has become my favorite site, especially since I’ve tuned to Low-g. Thanks for sharing so much of your resources, knowledge, and talent.
