Songbook Giveaway!

April 20, 2008 | 9:46 pm

I have three used (but in great condition!) ukulele songbooks that I will be giving away on May 1st. The songbooks are: E Kanikapila with a play along CD, Jumpin’ Jim’s ‘Ukulele Island, and Jumpin’ Jim’s ‘Ukulele Tips ‘n’ Tunes. These are all books that a beginner would get the most out of; no tabs or advanced chords.

To enter for a chance to win just comment on this post and I will put your name in the hat. The last day to enter is April 30th, and the drawing will be held on May 1st. The winner will hear from me via e-mail.

Dear Hippie guy, My ten year old son has played

Philippa Straus

Dear Hippie guy,
My ten year old son has played a baritone uke for the last two years that was mine when I was his age. He hit a rough patch about six months ago and wanted to quit because he was having some trouble adjusting to new chords. I think he was also concerned that his friends might make fun of him for playing the ukulele as they all think that guitars are cooler. I’ve worked to find him some songs to play that keep him interested and it’s helped a lot. He no longer wants to switch to guitar and has learned some old, Johnny Cash tunes and some others that are fun to play and sing along with. We would love to be entered into your drawing as it’s fun for a young player to have some new tunes to learn so your books would be appreciated. Thanks for the site.

Thank you, Neil

I would love to win these books as I am

Ken Driscoll

I would love to win these books as I am a new ukulele Player who has a 23 year old son and 15 year old daughter both interested in playing one two, since beginning our venture in playing the uke we have purchased six ukes, and one Uke kit, I bought a Samick Uk70 to start things off, my son went out and bought a Halo, my daughter got a Makala, I then bought a Washburn UO5, gave the Samick to my son, he bought a kit to build one, I was lucky enough to find an Applause UA20-5E and finally a Fluke Lava in Tenor, so we have quite a few ukes and love to read whatever we can to get better at playing them. I used to be a police officer/detective before breaking my back, now I can’t walk and never will again, so playing the Uke has become a life saver, imagine going from chasing bad guys either on foot or in a car, being in shoot outs, street fights, pulling people from fires, and tons of other exciting crime fighting and life saving things, to sitting in a chair watching TV, the Uke has really made things better in many ways.
That’s why I think we should win these books. Even though it is a drawing oh well. Thanks for the chance. If we win we’ll give the books a happy home, and when we’re done we’ll pass them along so someone else will have the same opportunity

Ken

My last email to you should have been "too" instead

Ken Driscoll

My last email to you should have been “too” instead of “two”, good going on the part of my spell checker, oh well… I’m sure most people got it, and just thought, “He must have bumped his head too” LOL… I was going to put the wrong to, too, or two here too, but figured it would be too hard explain it as a joke, beside “two” jokes about the wrong use of “too, two, or to” , is “two” “too” many for “to” even care about…

thank anyway… hopefully you can either edit the 1st email or add this to it, so peopl won’t think cops are dumb.

eric

I picked up a Ukulele last summer for something to sit out side and do. I have always wanted to learn the ukulele. Learning by myself is no easy task. I took a break over christmas and am having trouble getting back into it. Mostly cause I think its a fun summer thing to do, and currently right now its snowing. This makes me sad, but the uke makes me happy. I found its almost impossible to be sad and play the uke.

In any case win or loose you have a cool site and will continue to look check it out.

Thanks
