Ukelounge Lesson DVD Giveaway (Part 1)!

February 17, 2010

Free stuff! David from Ukelounge is donating two DVDs for two contests (check back next week for the second contest).

In the Ukelounge video, the British ‘ukulele artist Steven Sproat guides you through various techniques to add to your playing. One of the main things Steven focuses on is strums. Simple strums, triplet strums, Hawaiian strums, and more. There are also lessons on finger picking (arpeggios) and chord inversions. You probably want to have a little bit of experience before you jump into these lessons – I think a real beginner would get lost after the first couple videos. David has noted that the DVD is now in NTSC format for the USA viewers.

There will be two Ukelounge DVDs to be had over the course of the next two weeks (one per week), so if you don’t get the first one, come back and re-enter for a chance to win a second!

To win:

Open only to US and Canada residents. Edit: David has agreed to ship anywhere, so all of you from the far corners of the world, drop your name in the hat! All you have to do is comment on this post (look for the Comment on this post » or [#] Comment(s) – Leave your own » link down below). Entries for the first DVD will close next Wednesday (the 24th of February). I’ll draw the winner a day or two after that. If you feel like it, please give me input on what you’d like to see on the site.

Promo code:

If you would like to buy the DVD, you can use a special promo code to order straight from the Ukelounge site. The promo gets you 10% off the $23.50 price (includes shipping to US) and expires March 3rd.

I played all kinds of fretted instruments, until my car hit the highway quite literally a year ago, it landed on its roof and I tried stopping it by putting my left hand on the asphalt – not a bright idea, but can you come up with something better?

Now, two operations later, all I can and want to play, is the nylon-soft and easy going ukulele. Django style, of course.

Moses K February 23, 2010 at 8:01 pm

Aloha Brad!!

Hopefully I made it in time for the contest. This looks to be a great DVD. See you at the next Keoki workshop in Dec.

Wow! I am really thankful, to all of you wonderful ‘ukulele people for spreading uke joy even to the 4 corners of the world :) I am writing from Greece and I ve witnessed the ‘ukulele boom over here in the past 3 years I ve been strumming! I would like to thank you ‘ukulele internet people especially because without this kind of knowledge and fun sharing it would be impossible for myself and other music lovers to pick this wonderful instrument up and just… play!

Cheers,
V.
