Many years ago (back in 2007, I think) at the Kahumoku ‘Ohana Music and Lifestyle Workshop I won the entire collection of Grammy-winning Hawaiian slack key albums.
(At the time the “collection” wasn’t quite as large as it is now!) I remember falling in love with the almost “bonus track” ʻukulele songs included at the end of two of the CDs. One was Body Surfing, the other Little Rock Getaway, both by Da ‘Ukulele Boyz (Garett Probst and Peter DeAquino). I learned both of the songs and they have more or less stuck in my repertoire over the years.
Da ‘Ukulele Boyz version of Little Rock Getaway is jazzy and their take on a swing feel is great for people who want to learn a Hawaiian sounding song with some harder chords.
You could really just strum this song using the chord diagrams and outline the melody almost completely, but since I did my best to capture what both ʻukuleles are doing in the song, the lead part is included as well.
