Wow! Having practiced the C major scale repeatedly up and down the C string, or in first position across the strings, or up and down the A string from the 3rd fret, it has become ingrained. Now to shift everything to 2nd or 3rd position or higher really challenges my sense of which notes fall under which finger. Very helpful to expand and not associate a specific finger with a given note, if that makes sense. (Deep breath) Pause to absorb.

Yeah, Bob!!! To me, this is the juiciest stuff to practice on the uke.

I’ve also been working daily on getting the F, G, D and Bb major scales down so that they feel very comfortable. Shifting every other note, or groups of three. (123, 234, 345, etc) But now everything will be shifting accordingly. A new challenge for sure.
