Right Hand Technique for ‘Ukulele: A Detailed Guide to Strumming & Picking

“Sunday Morning” – Jake Shimabukuro (Review)

sundaymorningSunday MorningJake Shimabukuro‘s first album – starts off slow with the funky “Sand Channel” but speeds up once you hit the middle and then ends with “Crazy G” – a live version of Jake’s ultimate performance song!

This is the beginning of his use of effects pedals, but Jake also whips through Selections From Caprice No. 24 without any added dimensions and really nails it.

In some of his other albums Jake had his backup band mastered really loud, on this one he (or his engineer) got the mix a lot more subtle. The only thing missing from this and his other albums is a couple of Hawaiian songs.

Jake is one of the best ukulele players in the world and he showcases his skill in Sunday Morning.

I’m an ‘ukulele artist from Honoka’a, Hawai’i, where I run this site from a little plantation house in the jungle. I’ve taught workshops internationally, made Herb Ohta Jr. laugh until he cried, and once borrowed a uke to jam with HAPA onstage in my boardshorts. More about me
