Hi Brad, I’m curious about what size ‘ukulele you are holding in this intro video. I have a very tiny ‘ukulele (soprano?) but eventually want to get a larger one. Also, are the larger sizes (longer neck/fretboard) tuned in a different key from the smallest ‘ukuleles? (I will also check out your explanation of ‘ukuleles on your website page.) Thanks.

Aloha Daniel,
It’s a tenor size tuned GCEA, like a soprano. The only uke size that is usually tuned different is the baritone.

Aloha Brad! I just purchased this course. I love how transparent and genuine you are in your teaching materials. Every course or book of yours I’ve used has been great, so I’m really looking forward to this.
Right off the bat in the first lesson, you’re hitting the big idea of music being a personalized journey and the fact that this is your unique take. We need more of this genuine and meta-cognitive style of teacher rather than the swarm of tabs, song tutorials, and clickbait YT videos that just show one specific thing and move on without tying it all together. Excited to begin!

Mahalo for the kind words, Stephen! “Meta-cognitive” sure sounds fancy… :-)
Please reach out with questions as you move through the lessons. I know you will. Looking forward to it!

Hi Brad;
I’ve had your books, right and left , for over a year and have read through both and made some improvements. I’ve also followed along some of your sample videos and really like your style and attitude so have now purchased your left hand course. Like Yogi Berra could have said, “Ninety percent of my finger are stupid and the other half just have trouble learning!” but i am patient and will learn some day. Glad I purchased life time access, LOL.
RJp.s. Have you really found what “Meta-cognitive” even means??

Glad to have you on board, RJ! Be in touch if you need anything and please use these comment sections as you go. I’ll keep an eye out.
I just Googled it. :-) It’s one of those that I understand in my heart, but my brain hasn’t put a word to yet. I should start using it tho. Makes me sound smart!

Hello and Welcome Pat,
Since you are having trouble with a heavy neck on your 'ukulele, may I ask, are you using a strap? To help balance the weight of your 'ukulele you can connect it to the headstock just past the nut by tying it under the strings so as not to affect the intonation of the strings. This should help to free up your left hand. However, this would mean that you would have to have a strap button on the lower bout (butt end) of your 'ukulele. Hope that this helps.
Check out Brad’s tips on STRAPS here: How to Choose the Right Ukulele Strap and Play in Comfort
Mahalo for checking in, Pat! Sorry for the slow reply. I was camping off the grid.
I had not heard of the Woodside support. That’s quite a fancy device! Sounds like it does the trick for you, but if you want to explore this more, I like James’s video on holding the ʻukulele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VcwGMcq3jY. Of course, there is much more to it, but it covers the main points.
Please check back in as you work through the lessons! Would love to hear about your progress.
