A truly magical collaboration, Country Road is a beautiful song written by Paula Fuga and released on the Mana Maoli Selections Vol. 1. For the recording Jack Johnson lent his voice to the cause and sings the verse lines back and forth with Paula.
Besides some very low-key ukulele rhythm and a little break on Paula’s 6-string Kamaka, the song is mostly carried by guitar parts. I’ve notated the intro that the guitar plays for uke, but it will sound quite a lot higher than the recording. There are some tips for playing harmony leads here.
If you just want to strum the chords, this is a great beginner song. If you can get the Dm under your fingers, it’s a piece of cake.
The chorus is mostly the same each time, but the last line changes. This is shown in the charts. Keep an eye out for it and try not to forget which goes where!
